If you are unsure as to which Air Compressor model to select, please refer to our MAIN APPLICATIONS page for tooling suggestions to support your equipment.
Have a more complicated air tooling requirement? Please answer the following questions and send to INFO@CALIFORNIAAIRTOOLS.COM with your answers:
- Is this for Homeowner or Commercial use?
- Type of primary equipment or tooling being driven? If specialized pneumatics, what is the Make n Model number(s)?
- Operating CFM? (cubic feet per minute) or liters per minute (l/min) – check owners manual or product data spec sheet.
- Operating PSI? (40 vs. 70 vs. 100 PSI). NOTE: most tools operate 80-90 PSI.
- Do you require DRY AIR? If so, what percentage? (80 or 98%). Do you need to conform to ISO 8573 2.3.1 clean air standards (i.e. dew point -20C to -51C)? --SEE AIR DRYING SOLUTIONS INFORMATION BELOW--
- Operating how many hours per day? (i.e. number of actuations per hour & duration of each tooling cycle)
- Continuous air flow required or Intermittent air flow?
- Operating how many days per week?
- 110 volt or 220 volt model needed? >> If 220v, 1-phase or 3-phase?

How do different compressed air dryer types work?
- Adsorption / Desiccant (30+ All-In-One Air Dryer Model options)
Adsorption or desiccant dryers use hygroscopic material like silica gel (desiccant) to adsorb moisture contained in compressed air. The air flows over the material and is effectively dried. To dry the air from the air compressor an Aftercooler and Dryer are utilized. The aftercooler is a heat exchanger for cooling the discharge air from the air compressor. The water vapor from the compressed air is condensed into liquid form and pushed into the Air Dyer. Both 98% and 80% Air Dryer Compressor Models are available...
98% Air Compressor Models - ISO 8573 Class 2 Dry Air Compliant
Removes 98% of moisture content from the air
PDP (pressure dew point) performance range (-20' F. to -51' F.)
Air Quality: ISO 8573 - Class 2.3.1
Filtering to 0.01 microns
Designed for industries such as Dental, Dental Lab, Electronic manufacturing, Medical, Biotech, Laser, Plasma cutting, 3D Printing and other pneumatic equipment which requires Ultra-Dry 98% and Clean Air with 0.01 micron particulate filtering.
80% Air Compressor Models
Remove 80% of moisture content from the air.
Filtering to 5.0 microns
Non-ISO 8573 compliant (output air temperature ~18C)
Designed for industries such as Dental Practices, Laser, CNC, Packaging, Heat Presses, Spray Painting, Printing and other pneumatic equipment which requires ~80% dry air.
- Refrigerant dryers (Stand alone air dryer which may be paired with any standard air compressor). Typically maintain a PDP of +3 °C/37.4 °F, suitable for most applications. They consist of an air-to-air heat exchanger and air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger. Typically remove 95% to 98% of moisture from the air, but are Non-ISO 8573 compliant. REFRIGERATED AIR DRYERS
